Trevor Brown, CFA

Trevor Brown is an independent ammonia industry consultant and analyst, and an agitator for the commercialization of sustainable ammonia synthesis technologies.

He is available for hire as an independent consultant (contact me here), with expertise in strategy and business development, market research and analysis, corporate communications, and sustainability. His consulting practice focuses on:

  • the impact of capacity expansions on supply-side dynamics across the global ammonia/nitrogen industry,
  • the commercialization of sustainable ammonia synthesis technologies,
  • ammonia as an energy vector in the global transition to carbon-free energy.

In 2013, he established ammoniaindustry.com, a website that provides data, news, and analysis, which initially focused on the capacity expansions taking place in North America and now also tracks the industry’s transition to sustainable technologies.

From 2011 to 2013, he was VP Strategy for a start-up that aimed to develop an electrochemical process for renewable ammonia synthesis. Since 2012, he has been on the Board of Directors of the NH3 Fuel Association, which promotes the use of carbon-free ammonia in energy applications. He organizes the association’s annual conference and coordinates international research and development projects. In 2016, he launched ammoniaenergy.org, as publisher and co-editor, establishing a global information portal for ammonia as an energy vector.

Previously, Trevor launched US retail operations for the British publisher, Phaidon. Before that, he spent a decade working as a theater producer, presenting award-winning plays and musicals in London and New York. In 2016, the last script he commissioned, Whit Stillman’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Lady Susan, was released as a film.

Trevor holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. He received a professional certificate in Energy Innovation and Emerging Technologies from Stanford University (2015). He earned his BA in English Literature from King’s College London (2000). Click to view his LinkedIn profile.
